Don Browning’s Artwork in State of Florida Capital Art Collection

Celebrating Florida’s Bright future. Lt. Governor Jeff Kottkamp recently joined with many leaders in Celebrating Florida’s rich heritage with Florida’s Bright future.
Art images selected from artist Don Browning’s The Florida Wading Bird, Heritage Collection, and the Icons of Marion County Collection are accepted into the Division of Cultural Affairs Permanent Art Collection.
House Speaker Pro Tem Dennis Baxley’s first bill upon entering the House of Representatives was to Save the Rookery in Sunset Harbor, on Lake Weir in Marion County Florida.
Director Ken Haddad spoke of the weaving of responsibilities to form the fabric of effective conversation through Public/ Private partnering. Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Mike Sole spoke of the new direction the agency is taking to be a more effective Staff to the Trustees of Florida’s Submerged Lands. Improved protection of environmental assets is our responsibility, and Don Browning’s Art represents many of the celebrated assets that all Floridians treasure.
I am very proud to be able to advance the hopes and dreams of so many Floridians by linking our heritage with our bright future. If we respect the Icons of the past and use good deeds and best practices to promote the best for the future, we will have done our part to promote a bright future. The Lake Eustis Sailing Club, and the Ocala Sailing Club promote environmental stewardship at its best with low fossil fuel use of wind powered sailing.
I use the black and white image of the infrared spectrum to show the Sailing Pier, Ready to Launch action work. Senior Wellness and Youth Education are primary themes of these works.
Anchored in the past is Harry’s Bar image, on the Ocala famous town square and the Sailing Scene at the Lake Eustis Sailing Club enjoying a rich 50 year history. Also, celebrating a 50 year anniversary is Central Florida Community College, represented by an infrared image of the Clock Tower on the CFCC campus.
Sheriff Ed Dean, and the The Marion County Sheriffs office has been the key link to a successful Education, and Conservation program represented by the remaining Wildlife Art.
The list goes on and on, Senator Carey Baker, Senator Steve Oelrich, Senator Paula Dockery, and Senator Anna Cowin worked in the Senate, while Representatives Dennis Baxley, Hugh Gibson, Joe Pickens, Larry Cretul, Alan Hays and Chuck Chestnut worked in the House of Representatives.
Marion County Board of County Commissioners Chairman Stan McClain, along with Commissioners Barbara Fitos, Andy Kesselring, Charlie Stone and Jim Payton provided the core local support needed to save the Rookery in Sun Set Harbor.
